Civil engineering work at the Barbarossastraße / Leonhardtstraße junction to improve road safety for pedestrians

On Monday (29 October) , civil engineering work will begin at the Barbarossastraße / Leonhardtstraße junction on behalf of the City of Chemnitz. In order to offer pedestrians even more safety when crossing the Barbarossa and Leonhardtstraße carriageways, the footpaths at the junction will be widened at three points for so-called fords and for a bus stop by means of protruding side areas (footpath projections). The work is due to be completed on 16 November 2012.

Information for road users: During the construction work, traffic on Barbarossastrasse in the city direction (towards Zwickauer Strasse) will be routed with narrow lanes and in the country direction (towards Limbacher Strasse) with half-sided closures and traffic lights.
Road users should also note that exiting from the western and eastern Leonhardtstraße will be temporarily prohibited on both sides.

The company Asphalt-Bau Chemnitz, Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH from Bernsdorf was commissioned with the construction work.
The invested construction costs amount to approx. 21,000 euros.
