City pool reopens at the end of September
The actual construction project includes the decommissioning of the underground storage tank and the elevated tank, the partial conversion of the cold water distribution systems and the construction of an emergency water supply for the city of Chemnitz in the area of the municipal swimming pool.
In the course of this work, unforeseen defects were discovered in the pool's plant technology. These include, in particular, the pipe network, parts of which are at a higher risk of damage due to their age. This has resulted in additional repairs that were not previously apparent due to a lack of accessibility to the supply shafts. Furthermore, more extensive dismantling work needs to be carried out in the area of the new cold water distribution system. The difficulty here lies in the separation of various old installations, for example the raw water installation and the drinking water installation.
The costs of the measure described, including the additional work, amount to around €520,000. The construction work is being carried out by the company Gunther Hüttner +Co. GmbH from Chemnitz.
