City of Chemnitz sets up vaccination centre on Wilhelm-Raabe-Straße
Up to 500 vaccinations possible daily - advance payment for the state and DRK Saxony
Over the past few weeks, the city of Chemnitz has made a forward-looking advance decision to convert a former supermarket on Wilhelm-Raabe-Straße into a vaccination centre in order to offer the Free State of Saxony and the DRK Saxony improved opportunities for more vaccinations. The vaccination centre will initially start with a mobile DRK vaccination team.
This would initially allow up to 250 vaccinations per day from tomorrow. In a very short time, the capacity can be expanded to up to 500 vaccinations per day with a further vaccination line, provided the necessary staff are available from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the DRK. In the near future, another DRK mobile vaccination team is to take up permanent work at the vaccination centre.
The DRK has announced that the appointment booking portal will be activated shortly. This will then allow appointments to be booked for the fixed vaccination centre. Until then, waiting numbers will be allocated by the mobile teams on a transitional basis.
The vaccination centre is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Tomorrow, the first day, the centre will only open at 11 am.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "We have set up this centre without waiting for regulations or commitments from the Free State. 60 people who want to be vaccinated can wait for their vaccination indoors at the site and are thus protected from the wind and weather. It is now up to the Free State and the DRK to provide the promised vaccination teams and the necessary technology so that Chemnitz residents can be vaccinated or boostered as quickly as possible. I would like to thank everyone involved in setting this up for their quick and good work."
