City of Chemnitz honours International Stefan Heym Awards
Applications possible from 1 April to 15 September 2023
In memory of Stefan Heym, the critical writer and journalist, the city of Chemnitz is awarding the International Stefan Heym Prizes. The awards have a total value of 20,000 euros. The next funding period starts on 1 April. Applications can be submitted to the City of Chemnitz until 15 September.
The International Stefan Heym Sponsorship Prizes are awarded in the form of pro rata prize money, in particular to projects and initiatives in the fields of art, culture, science and research or the preservation of Stefan Heym's estate. Own journalistic or artistic works can also be supported, provided they deal critically, courageously and productively with questions of our present (also in their historical context and their possible future form) in the spirit of Stefan Heym. Projects by and with pupils and students will be given special consideration.
Individuals, initiatives, institutions, private and public organisations and associations can apply. The funded projects should be realised within the next three years until the next International Stefan Heym Prize is awarded in 2026.
The application must include a description of the project in a maximum of two pages in DIN A4 format, a cost and financing plan, a public relations plan for the project and a timetable.
The application form can be downloaded from the Internet at www.chemnitz.de/heympreis.
The winners of the awards are decided by the Board of Trustees of the International Stefan Heym Prize. The patron of the Board of Trustees is Inge Heym.
