Press invitation 27 January, 4 p.m., City Hall, Wandelhalle

On 27 January, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism, a commemorative plaque for ten city councillors who were victims of National Socialism between 1933 and 1945 will be unveiled during a ceremony in the lobby of the New Town Hall at 4 pm. The 30 x 50 cm plaque made of antique brass will be placed in the Wandelhalle, close to where the former city councillors worked.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event. In addition to Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig, representatives of the parliamentary group DIE LINKE/Die Partei, the SPD parliamentary group and the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) will speak. Musical contributions will be provided by Andreas Winkler. He is a teacher at the municipal music school.

In March 2019, the city council passed a resolution to enable a dignified commemoration of the city councillors who were murdered during the National Socialist era, were killed in concentration camps or died as a result of imprisonment. The city archives then researched the city councillors in various historical sources.
