City of Chemnitz finances educational trips to concentration camp memorials for independent schools
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to fund educational trips to concentration camp memorial sites for independent schools.
With immediate effect, the City of Chemnitz will not only fund these educational trips for municipal secondary schools, special schools and grammar schools in Chemnitz, but also for independent organisations. These trips are designed for grades 8 to 11 and have so far taken place, for example, as part of history lessons or in the run-up to the youth consecration ceremony. As a rule, the costs are borne by the parents.
The funding provided by the City of Chemnitz enables all young people to take advantage of such an offer - regardless of their families' financial situation. The aim is to enable every young person in Chemnitz of the specified age to go on such a trip once.
Up to 30 euros per pupil are available for this purpose.
