City of Chemnitz closes all municipal facilities
The City of Chemnitz has decided to close public municipal facilities from Monday, 2 November until the end of the month. This is due to the regulations adopted by the Federal Government and the Minister Presidents, which come into force on Monday.
According to these regulations, the federal and state governments are endeavouring to take massive action against the rising number of infections so that schools and kindergartens can remain reliably open and no far-reaching restrictions on personal contacts and economic activity are necessary during the Christmas period. For this reason, all facilities used for leisure activities will be closed.
Specifically, the closures in Chemnitz affect the theatre, the city hall, museums, all municipal facilities in the TIETZ, the zoo and the wildlife park, swimming pools and sports halls as well as the ice rink (except for school sports).
Further steps may be necessary depending on the details of the new state ordinance, which is due to be published at the weekend.
