"Chemnitzer Macher" exhibition opens in Sachsen-Allee
"I love Chemnitz" is written in large letters in front of Sachsen-Allee. Since yesterday, the love for the city can also be read in the halls of the shopping centre. The "Chemnitzer Macher" exhibition from the city marketing campaign "Die Stadt bin ich" (I am the city) in the entrance area at Thomas-Mann-Platz tells the story of 70 personalities who are developing their ideas and passions in the city. Some of the movers and shakers were on site for yesterday's opening. Frizzi Seltmann, three-time world champion in rope skipping, for example, quickly grabbed the rope with a team colleague: "When we are travelling the world for competitions, we infect many people with our good mood and team spirit. We also want to convey this cheerful image of Chemnitz. And the response to our sport from the people of Chemnitz is always consistently positive," says the athlete.
Claudia Großkopp, Director of the Chemnitz Tram Museum, says that Chemnitz has changed remarkably: "You can tell that the Chemnitz infatuation is coming back". And Andreas Reichelt from the association tellerlein deck dich e. V., which looks after socially disadvantaged children, adds: "The people of Chemnitz are very self-critical, which is fine. Sometimes the focus should be more on the things that work."
Hans-Jörg Bliesener, centre manager, has given the exhibition space in Sachsen-Allee "because it is made by people for people. It fits well in a busy, public place like our shopping centre."
The exhibition opening was broadcast on the regional programme of Radio Chemnitz.

The exhibition can be visited until 28 May 2016 during the opening hours of Sachsen-Allee Thomas-Mann-Platz 1, Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 8 pm.
The maker exhibition was first shown in December 2015 at Chemnitz City Hall and will be on display at other locations in Chemnitz throughout the year.
