On Friday 7 February at 11 a.m., representatives of the media are invited to a press conference at the Hans-Ziegler-Straße stop in Gablenz (opposite the supermarket).
The current directors of Chemnitz City Library, Julia Trillhoff and Jana Eger, will present the new FaBi mobile library, which will start its trial run on this day. The mobile library team will also be on hand to answer questions.
The Chemnitz City Library's new mobile library is an electrically powered vehicle. From 7 February, the four public stops (Rabenstein-Center, Norma in Reichenbrand, Lessingplatz stop and Gablenzplatz stop) will initially be served in test operation. After the winter holidays, from 10 March, the mobile library will then start its regular route to a total of 20 schools in Chemnitz: Stop plan.
The new mobile library will mainly be used in Chemnitz school playgrounds and in neighbourhoods without library facilities and, as a mobile library, is a key factor in providing access to the city library's wide range of services to as many Chemnitz residents as possible. From children's books and console games to the latest novel or non-fiction book - the mobile library brings it to the readers.
The service is not a simple delivery service, but a fully-fledged library with well-stocked shelves, a lending desk, places to sit and browse and competent staff. Registering new items, renewing or returning media is all possible. At the same time, the acquisition of a low-emission, environmentally friendly mobile library is a clear sign of sustainability in Chemnitz.
