The longing for peace spans the entire world. And yet, wars have been waged throughout human history. They rage in horror and destruction, plunging people into injury, illness, despair, suffering and death. Very specifically at the theatre of war. In general, in the bewilderment at the arrogance of power and the mutilation of humanity. What can we do? Can a war be ended by ignoring it... If the aggressor and the warring party impose their rules of truth-telling and violence and thus force us into further violence-generating resistance, we don't want to resign....
A terrible dilemma. Very real and present in the here and now of 2023.
And yet, wars are not natural disasters, wars are man-made. Everything man-made can also be stopped again. This is the reason for confidence in all dialectics.
Sehnsucht Frieden presents texts and songs for reflection and hope. Pieces from the time of the Thirty Years' War to the present day. Own and foreign, in German, English, French, Russian and Ukrainian, recited and sung by Luise Albrecht, Ulrike Brummert, Jörg Kersten, Sophie Lässig and Sabrina Tietz. Accompanied on the grand piano by Yidong Qiao.
Followed by an open dialogue and discussion with the Freundeskreis C2025 and Formation Ent_Rüstet.

Educational professionals, teachers and senior carers can learn in just a few hours how to easily accompany children's and folk songs, popular songs and songs without any prior knowledge. The strings of the guitar are tuned to C major so that only one fingering needs to be learnt with the left hand. There are many fingerings for the right hand. There are also tips for playing JelGi music with guitars, boomwhackers and Orff instruments with children from the age of 2, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
The non-profit association "JelGi - Jeder lernt Gitarre" organises the JelGi courses on a voluntary basis.

Martina J. Kohl "Family Matters: About life in two worlds"
Reading and discussion in German and English

Family Matters follows in the footsteps of a German family that has travelled across the Atlantic in both directions for four generations. Like Elizabeth and Little Henry, who have to leave their beloved New York at the beginning of the 20th century and return to their old homeland; the violinist Clara, who can only fulfil her vocation in the America of the suffragettes; the "War Bride" Toni, who courageously follows a G. I. to Nebraska after the Second World War; and finally the student Iris, who tries to find her place in both worlds in the 1980s. In retrospect, they all ask themselves the question "What if?", which is a recurring theme throughout the story.

The film documents the preparations for the transfer of the library from Heym's study in Berlin-Grünau to the Stefan Heym Forum in his native city of Chemnitz. Supplemented by numerous archive recordings from contemporary appearances and interviews with Stefan Heym, director Beate Kunath has succeeded in creating a sensitive double portrait that offers surprising new insights into Heym's life and literary work.

In her book, Nora Goldenbogen tells the painful life and love story of her parents. The two met in exile in Paris in 1934 - the father, a German political émigré, and the mother, a Romanian Jew who wanted to make a new start in France. Their marriage in Bucharest in 1935 was considered "racial dishonour" and could be punished as a crime. Following a denunciation, they were targeted by the Gestapo at the German legation in Bucharest. The National Socialist persecution apparatus began to work. They were separated. It was not until the end of 1946 that they met again in Dresden.
Dresden historian Nora Goldenbogen is the director of HATiKVA - Educational and Meeting Centre for Jewish History and Culture Saxony e. V., long-time chairwoman of the Jewish Community of Dresden and currently of the Saxony State Association of Jewish Communities.

Close, often too close family ties play just as important a role as the eternal question of whether the fridge is really full enough.
These are tongue-in-cheek stories with a good dose of self-irony for people who finally want to find out what it's like to be Jewish in Germany... A joint event organised by the Evangelical Forum and the City Library, financed by taxpayers' money on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament. Anett Steiner will be reading from her fifth Ore Mountain crime thriller "Kellerengel" - this time her Chemnitz detective Lorenz is travelling in the folk art milieu around Seiffen, Olbernhau and Marienberg, having already investigated in Annaberg, Zwönitz and Ehrenfriedersdorf in the previous volumes.
Follow the author on a humorously murderous reading journey through the Ore Mountains!
Anett Steiner was born in Annaberg-Buchholz in 1976, completed her A-levels there and trained as an orthopaedic technician, a profession in which she worked for many years. She worked as a lorry driver and now works in the folk art industry. She has received several awards for her literary writing, including 3rd place in the Chemnitz Crime Fiction Prize in 2011. She is a member of the authors' associations "Mord-Ost" and "FürWort" and organises readings.
Her Erzgebirge crime novels "Dunkelwald", "Herzgrube", "Splitternacht", "Stollentod" and "Kellerengel" have been published to date.
