Vernissage: Paintings by Carsten Riebold

Carsten Riebold (born 1968) originally comes from northern Germany and has lived in Altchemnitz for five years. The trained forwarding agent has developed an individual style of painting. The artist has come up with his own term "Funtism" for his colourful mix of elements of Pop Art and Cubism, among others. Behind this is the motto of enjoying painting and passing it on. A little rock'n'roll on drawing paper.

Bibliophile treasures from seven centuries are stored in the stacks of the Chemnitz City Library. We would like to invite you to explore these treasures during the Museum Night.
On the occasion of 111 years of TIETZ, we will be presenting media from the old collection on the history of the building, such as the Tietz advertising leaflets and the Tietz game.

Everyday life in the Heckert area in the 1980s is described in entertaining episodes and memories. From the noise in the school dining hall to the smell of the corridors and festivities in living rooms that were too small, Manuela Klitzsch remembers growing up in the children's room with the fabulous view with a wink and a love of detail.
Manuela Klitzsch was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1976 and grew up in the Fritz-Heckert area. She studied German and classical singing in Dresden and Magdeburg, likes packet soups and thunderstorms and now lives in Dresden with her husband and two children.

The film "Farewell and Arrival" documents the preparations for the transfer of the library from Heym's study in Berlin-Grünau to the Stefan Heym Forum in Chemnitz, the city of his birth. Supplemented by numerous archive recordings from contemporary appearances and interviews with Stefan Heym, director Beate Kunath has succeeded in creating a sensitive double portrait that offers surprising new insights into Heym's life and literary work.
She will present the film and its creation in person at the Museum Night. The Stefan Heym Forum and the working library of Inge and Stefan Heym can be visited from 6 pm.

The city library is once again taking part in the Free Comic Book Day and this time it is explicitly aimed at children. Every child who is able to read can take one or two comics with them on this afternoon, which will be provided by various publishers - the exact number will be determined by our wheel of fortune. There are 25 very different comics to choose from: Fantasy, funny, action heroes, adventurous and marvellous.
In addition to well-known comic characters such as Idefix or Spider-Man, there are many great insider tips: Rebis, Animal Jack or Elle(s) are just a few of many new exciting characters. If you can't get your hands on a favourite issue, don't worry: We also have most of the issues available to borrow and there will also be a selection of other great library comics on the day.

Pen & Paper - introduction to role-playing and communication games / games meeting

We will get to know this unique mix of board game, storytelling and improv theatre without much prior knowledge. There are no limits to your imagination when role-playing with pen, paper and dice. Don't be afraid of daunting sets of rules, but good communication is the be-all and end-all here. This can be practised well with lots of small, beginner-friendly role-playing games and other communication games. More experienced people will find like-minded people and can try their hand at one-shot adventures.

A cautionary declaration of love to the German Basic Law
Concert reading to mark 75 years of the Basic Law with Roman Knižka and the OPUS 45 wind quintet

Three years after the end of the Second World War, the Parliamentary Council met in 1948 to give the new West German state, the Federal Republic of Germany, a democratic constitution: the Basic Law. The Parliamentary Council consisted of 61 men and four women. They had very different world views, many of them had been politically persecuted during the Nazi era, refugees or survivors of concentration camps.
Actor Roman Knižka and the OPUS 45 wind quintet scrutinise the Basic Law from its creation to the present day. What is its foundation, what was its legacy? What significance does this foundation have for us today?
The programme includes literary, philosophical and humorous texts as well as minutes of meetings of the Parliamentary Council, letters, telegrams, newspaper articles and much more.
The event organised by the Evangelical Forum is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon State Parliament.
