Jaroslav Rudiš: "Winterberg's last journey"

Venue: TIETZ, event hall

Registration: TIETZ, Information Desk, Tel. 0371 4884366

Jan Kraus works as a geriatric nurse in Berlin. He was born in Vimperk, formerly Winterberg, in the Bohemian Forest and has lived in Germany since 1986. The circumstances under which he left Czechoslovakia remain his secret. And his trauma. Kraus accompanies seriously ill people in the last days of their lives. One of them is Wenzel Winterberg. A Sudeten German, he was expelled from Czechoslovakia after the war. When Kraus meets him, he is lying paralysed in bed.

It is Kraus' stories from his home in Vimperk that bring Winterberg back to life. But Winterberg wants more from Kraus, he wants to go on a final journey with him in search of his lost love - a journey that takes the two of them through the history of Central Europe. From Berlin to Sarajevo via Reichenberg, Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Because not only Kraus, but also Winterberg is hiding a secret.
