Freifunk consultation hour, TIETZ Edition
Location: TIETZ, Central Library, LibraryLab
Participation: free of charge

Freifunk Chemnitz e. V. meets in the middle of one of its largest installations and shows in a cosy environment what is possible with WLAN today.

From a simple router that you place by your window to complex event planning, you can come along with your questions or set up your first Freifunk router together with us.

Helbig - figures who made history
Lecture on the exhibition "90 Years of Emil Helbig Decorative Arts Carvings"
Location: TIETZ, Central Library, LearningRoom
Participation: free of charge

The company "Kunstgewerbliche Schnitzereien Emil Helbig" is the oldest carving workshop still in existence in the Erzgebirge. Unique works of art have been created in this small flat carving workshop for over 90 years.

The lecture and exhibition present a selection of the unmistakable figures created in this workshop. They also provide an insight into the eventful history of the company.

Chemnitz Literature Talks

"Talking together with and about literature" - under this motto, everyone is welcome to join the panellists and the audience for an entertaining evening. The novel "Machandel" by Regina Scheer and the non-fiction book "Rückkehr nach Lemberg" by Philippe Sands will be presented by Alexander Tsyterer (student at Chemnitz University of Technology) and Petra Seedorff (Chair of the Board of the International Stefan Heym Society) and discussed together with the moderators Bernadette Malinowski (Chemnitz University of Technology) and Tina Horlitz (Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau).

An event organised in cooperation with the Chemnitz-Zwickau Student Union.

Memories of Stefan Heym
Presentation of interviews with contemporary witnesses with film author Beate Kunath

Attendance: 3 euros, reduced rate 1.50 euros

The permanent exhibition of the Stefan Heym Forum Chemnitz makes exclusive short interviews with people who knew Stefan Heym personally available. Chemnitz filmmaker Beate Kunath, author of the documentary "Abschied und Ankunft" (Farewell and Arrival) about Stefan and Inge Heym and their joint working library, has conducted interviews with numerous companions and contemporary witnesses of Heym. These recordings can be accessed at the media stations in the Stefan Heym Forum Chemnitz. She will present some of them in person and explain how they came about.

On quiet soles... Stories to listen to, read aloud for anyone with keen ears

Our reading mentors read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves. Admission is free of charge.
