Freifunk Chemnitz e. V. meets in the middle of one of its largest installations and shows in a cosy environment what is possible with WLAN today. From a simple router that you can put in your window to complex event planning, you can come along with your questions or set up your first Freifunk router together with us.

In this three-part workshop, you can learn how to use tablets, apps and the city library's digital services under supervision. All three parts build on each other. You do not need any previous knowledge or your own device to take part.

Pen & Paper - introduction to role-playing and communication games / games meeting

Location: TIETZ, Central Library, Library Lab, OpenSpace

We will get to know this unique mix of board game, storytelling and improv theatre without much prior knowledge. There are no limits to your imagination when role-playing with pen, paper and dice. Don't be afraid of daunting rules, but good communication is the be-all and end-all here. This can be practised well with lots of small, beginner-friendly role-playing games and other communication games. More experienced people will find like-minded people and can try their hand at one-shot adventures.

Cooperative gaming for adults

Location: TIETZ, Central Library, GamingArena

Admission: free of charge, registration is not required

Target group: 18 years and older

We present multiplayer games mainly with a co-operative character from the genres of action RPG, beat'em up, shooter and retro games and invite you to play along. PlayStation4, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck as well as our VR glasses Meta Quest will be used. Due to USK regulations, minors will not be admitted to the event.

Open text workshop of the Free German Authors' Association

Memories of Stefan Heym - Presentation of new contemporary witness interviews for the Stefan Heym Forum with film author Beate Kunath

Venue: TIETZ, Stefan Heym Forum

Admission: 3 euros, reduced 1.50 euros

The permanent exhibition at the Stefan Heym Forum Chemnitz includes exclusive short interviews with people who knew Stefan Heym personally. Chemnitz filmmaker Beate Kunath, author of the documentary "Abschied und Ankunft" (Farewell and Arrival) about Stefan and Inge Heym and their joint working library, has conducted interviews with other companions and contemporary witnesses of Heym in recent years. These recordings have also recently been made available on the media stations. She presents some of them in person and explains the story behind their creation.

An event organised by the International Stefan Heym Society e. V. in cooperation with the City of Chemnitz's Culture Department/Cultural Management.

On quiet soles... stories to listen to

read aloud for everyone with pricked ears

Our reading mentors read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves. Admission is free of charge.
