Das Haus des Schreckens In a small village in the Uckermark, the painter Alexandra hopes to find peace again. But the house she has rented is considered haunted by the villagers. Alexandra thinks she hears footsteps in the attic - then she learns that her previous tenant has disappeared without a trace and that five women have recently been killed in the neighbourhood. She befriends Harris, the village policeman, who is obviously following her. Alexandra doesn't find out whether he has fallen in love with her or simply wants to protect her. When Theresia, the beautiful waitress from the village pub, is found dead, Alexandra feels she can hardly bear the atmosphere in her house. She receives warnings to pack her things. Is someone trying to drive her mad? But why? A gripping psychological thriller full of surprising twists and turns. Moderation: Pastor Dorothee Lücke.

Read aloud: On quiet soles... Stories to listen to read aloud for everyone with keen ears

When you are invited to the event "Auf leisen Sohlen..." in the city library, you have to be very quiet and prick up your ears, because the reading mentors come to visit and read out exciting stories. They take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. The literature-loving readers read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world. Admission to the reading sessions is free.
