On Friday, 3 June at 10 a.m., Chemnitz City Library invites you to a press and photo event on the TIETZ forecourt. The Chemnitz City Library's new e-cargo bike "Lara", which will be making stops in public places in Chemnitz's neighbourhoods from June, will be presented.

The new vehicle will be used for mobile library work and for low-threshold media education programmes. For example, book picnics, reading sessions and information events as well as mobile offers will take place at daycare centres, schools and after-school care centres in the city.
The first dates are on 11 June, from 11 am to 6 pm at the "New Kiez on the Block" district festival on Annenplatz; on 17 June, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Kosmos Festival in Schillerpark; on 7 July, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Book Summer on Tour in Konkordia Park and on 15 July, from 4 pm to 6.30 pm at the Park Summer in Stadthallenpark.

The cargo bike is also intended to be an advertising medium for the city library, allowing it to reach people who don't normally visit libraries.

The vehicle is a real eye-catcher. The graphics were realised by the Chemnitz illustrator and designer Stephanie Brittnacher. The electric cargo bike was procured using funds from the city of Chemnitz's central vehicle fleet and is therefore a contribution to sustainable mobility.
