City funds 27 socio-cultural projects with 50,000 euros and construction measures by independent organisations with a total of 785,000 euros

Promotion of measures from the socio-cultural youth fund (B23/2014):

50,000 euros are available in 2014 for the promotion of 27sociocultural measures and projects in the City of Chemnitz budget. The offers, which are mainly supported by associations, include the project "Wir" ("We") by the AG In- und Ausländer ("Working Group for Nationals and Foreigners") to involve children and young people as participants in the Intercultural Weeks, as well as a large multicultural festival in the Park of the Victims of Fascism, organised by the Verein zur Wiederbelebung kulturellen Brachland ("Association for the Revival of Cultural Wasteland"). All in all, the funding makes it possible to organise an extremely diverse, intergenerational programme:

Various festivals (e.g. 18th Children's Day Festival in Küchwald, 8th Spectacle on Castle Pond Island, traditional Fairytale Night in the Park Railway depot, Young Culture in Wittgensdorf and the 10th Ebersdorf Open Air), the 18th Children's Day Festival in Küchwald and the 10th Ebersdorf Open Air. Ebersdorfer Open Air), concerts and hands-on activities are also financially supported, as are the poetbewegt literature competition, an open printing workshop and the artistic façade design at the AJZ, the BMX Inline MTB Kubb Weekend, the creation of an animated film and a theatre camp in Küchwald. Soapbox races and circus arts will be organised on the Sonnenberg with the financial support. Radio T e. Financial grants to independent youth welfare organisations for construction and renovation measures (B-037/2014, B-048/2014, B-049/2014): The Youth Welfare Committee approved the administration's proposals for financial grants to independent youth welfare organisations totalling €785,000 - in detail, this will support the following construction measures by three independent organisations from the municipal budget and with the help of federal and state funding:

For the construction of the 2. For the construction of the second construction phase for the continuation of the measure "Demolition of a building and replacement construction of an entrance area with integrated serving kitchen and rooms for a group unit" in the Henriettenstraße 10 daycare centre, the recognised provider of independent youth welfare Ev.-Luth. Kirchgemeinde St. Pauli Kreuz Chemnitz will receive 290,000 euros (of which 20,058 federal funds and 101,627 state funds).

For the 2nd construction phase for the "external skin renovation and attic extension" of the Kirchweg 8 day care centre, the recognised provider of independent youth welfare services Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e. V. Chemnitz will receive 420,000 euros (of which 210,000 euros are state funds).

For planning services for the "complete refurbishment and 2nd BA fire protection" in the Wilhelm-Firl-Straße 2/4 daycare centre, the recognised sponsor of independent youth welfare Sportjugend Chemnitz im SSBC e. V. will receive 75,000 euros

The Youth Welfare Committee also approved the additional grant of 200,000 euros yesterday. These funds can be used to significantly support the work of independent youth welfare organisations in the areas of school social work and drug prevention (draft resolution no. B-082/2014). In its February meeting, the City Council provided the corresponding additional budget funds totalling 200,000 euros for this in its resolution on the City of Chemnitz's budget statutes for the 2014 financial year. In addition to the resolution already passed by the Youth Welfare Committee (B-226/2013) "Planning of measures to support the recognised independent youth welfare organisations of the City of Chemnitz for the 2014 budget year", the funds for school social work and drug prevention services can thus be increased.
