CITY CYCLING campaign ends with a final cycle tour

Tour starts on 21 September, 5 pm, at Brückenstraße 35

On Thursday 21 September at 5 p.m., all cycling enthusiasts are invited to a joint bike tour through the city. For the first time, the CITY CYCLING campaign in Chemnitz will end with a final tour. Participation is free of charge and registration is not required.

The almost 14-kilometre tour under the motto "chemnitzdrehtamradtour2023" starts and ends at Brückenstraße 35. Cyclists can gather there from 4 p.m. Mayor Knut Kunze will give the starting signal for the tour at 5 p.m.

Participants will cycle in a group, accompanied by the police. The short after-work tour is suitable for young people aged 12 and over. Children with cycling experience can also take part. There will be a starting point for the tour at the playground in Margarethenstraße in the Hilbersdorf district.

A DJ will provide musical entertainment at the start and end points. Among other things, utility company eins will be on site with a free water bar.

So far, 3,017 Chemnitz residents have registered to take part in the Climate Alliance campaign organised by the City of Chemnitz's Environmental Agency and Transport and Civil Engineering Department. 2,668 actively got on their bikes and cycled 372,642 kilometres. This corresponds to avoiding 60 tonnes of CO2 compared to using a car. (as of 14 September 2023)
