City Council work in 2023 in facts and figures
Citizens of the city can follow what the elected representatives are debating in various ways. In addition to being able to read the documents in the citizen information system at www.chemnitz.de, the city council meetings can also be attended live in the city council chamber or streamed live from the comfort of your own home.
Below is a brief overview of the council's work in the year just ended:
Ten public city council meetings were held in 2023. The total meeting time was 42 hours and 43 minutes. The shortest meeting was recorded on 15 November at 2 hours and 58 minutes. The meeting on 22 March, in which the councillors adopted the City of Chemnitz budget for 2023/2024, was the longest debate at 8 hours and 51 minutes.
In total, the plenary session for Chemnitz and the residents of Chemnitz dealt with 132 public and five non-public draft resolutions. In the end, the committee adopted 127 public and four non-public proposals from the administration.
In addition, a total of 85 motions for resolutions from the political groups represented on the City Council were on the agenda, all of which were public. A total of 43 motions were adopted and thus issued as a mandate to the administration. A total of 13 information proposals were on the agenda this year.
The number of city council enquiries (including requests for information) remains high, with a total of 450. That is 91 more than in the previous year (359 enquiries in 2022).
A total of 7,316 viewers watched the ten live broadcasts this year. The recordings were subsequently watched by 32,504 viewers up to the November session. This is double the previous year's figure (2022: 14,048 viewers in total).
The budget session in March attracted the most live viewers with 2,117. The recording of the meeting on 25 October recorded the most views after the event, with 9,483 viewers watching it at a later date.
