City Council work in 2021 in facts and figures
Citizens of the city can find out what the elected representatives are debating in various ways. As well as being able to read the documents in the citizen information system at www.chemnitz.de, the city council meetings can also be attended live in the town hall or followed via livestream from the comfort of your own home.
Here is a brief overview of the council's work in the past year:
Twelve public city council meetings were held in 2021. In total, the meetings lasted 53 hours and 50 minutes. The shortest meeting was recorded in June at 2 hours and 17 minutes. With the budget bylaws for the 2021/2022 biennial budget on the agenda, the longest debate was held on 31 March: 11 hours and 5 minutes.
In total, the plenary session for Chemnitz and the residents of Chemnitz dealt with 139 public and three non-public draft resolutions. In the end, the committee adopted 116 public and two non-public administrative proposals.
In addition, a total of 74 motions for resolutions from the political groups represented on the City Council were on the agenda, all of which were public. A total of 27 motions were adopted and thus issued to the administration.
A total of 26 information proposals were on the agenda this year. There were no urgent decisions by the Lord Mayor. A still significant number - combined with a high workload for the administration as the addressee of the enquiries - is recorded with 321 City Council enquiries submitted.
The twelve meetings broadcast live this year were watched by a total of 12,216 viewers. The recordings were watched by 28,156 viewers. The meeting in November attracted 2341 live viewers, while the meeting on 17/18 March was watched by 7569 viewers at a later date.
