City council elects Ferenc Csák as head of the cultural organisation
On Wednesday evening, the Chemnitz City Council elected Ferenc Csák as the new head of the City of Chemnitz's cultural organisation in the non-public part of the council meeting.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "Ferenc Csák has the best qualifications for this wonderful, important task. I hope that, with the exciting experiences of his career to date, he will provide valuable impetus for the direction of the new cultural organisation and I look forward to working with him."
Ferenc Csák, born in 1974, studied art history and political science at the University of Regensburg. He has held various management positions in the cultural sector. He worked as a government representative for the European Capital of Culture 2010 in Pécs, Hungary, and as State Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Education and Culture in Hungary. As General Director of the Hungarian National Gallery, he was able to attract over 400,000 visitors and organise more than 80 events a year, providing important impetus for the strategy and management of this renowned institution.
In the future cultural enterprise, which will come into existence on 1 July 2015, the City Library, Adult Education Centre and Museum of Natural History will be brought together with the Cultural Office, the Music School and the City Archive under one management and administration.
