City council decision in favour of the yellow bin
Yesterday, a majority of the city council voted in favour of a standardised collection system for lightweight packaging (LVP) in Chemnitz (B-024/2015).
With this resolution, the city council authorised the municipal waste disposal and city cleaning company of the city of Chemnitz (ASR) to enter into negotiations with the system operator responsible for the tender for the nationwide introduction of the yellow bin.
The aim is to revise the system description for the collection of LLP, which will then become part of the tender documents. From the city's perspective, the planned new tender for the collection of LLP in the city of Chemnitz for the period 2016 to 2018 should include the nationwide yellow bin. The existing disposal frequency (weekly and fortnightly) should also be retained. The system operators must agree to these proposals. Only then can the yellow bins be set up in the affected districts.
The contract for the collection of lightweight packaging for the period 2016 to 2018 will be awarded by the dual system operators following a tendering process. Which company will be awarded the contract will be announced in the 3rd quarter of 2015 at the earliest.
