City council decides to renovate the outdoor facilities of the daycare centres on Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße
At its meeting today, the city council decided to renovate the outdoor facilities of the "Rasselbande" and "Sonnenblume" daycare centres (both in the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 190 building) in the Gablenz district for a total of 530,000 euros.
The two daycare centres, with a total of more than 200 places for children aged 0 to 7, have a shared outdoor play area of around 7500 square metres, which is to be renovated. The focus will be on classic exercise play with climbing, sliding, bolting, swinging and seesawing, which will be integrated into a natural landscape. Retreat areas for free and creative play are also planned, creating a functional overall play area.
An area for children under the age of three with a sandpit, awning, climbing element and small scooter track is planned for each facility.
A larger scooter track is planned for the kindergarten area, supplemented by a new vehicle shed. A climbing combination will be built in the centre of the outdoor area. Nearby, an almost 80 square metre football pitch with artificial turf is to be built with two youth football goals and a three-sided, four metre high ball catching net. A larger sand play area with a built-in mud table will be built in the east of the daycare centre.
The city of Chemnitz is receiving 200,000 euros in funding for the refurbishment, which is being provided by the Saxony Municipal Social Association.
