City council decides to renovate the outdoor facilities of the day-care centre at Hilbersdorfer Straße 21

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council approved the renovation of the outdoor facilities at the Hilbersdorfer Straße 21 daycare centre.

A total of 88 children are cared for at the daycare centre, i.e. 25 children aged one to three years and 63 children aged three to seven years, including three integrated children.

The centre consists of two buildings, both of which are surrounded by play areas. The outdoor facilities are in a partially desolate condition due to heavy wear and tear. The play equipment was installed in 1994 and is worn and worn out.

The day care centre site covers a total area of around 6,400 m², of which a section of around 3,200 m² is to be redesigned. The total cost of the construction project is estimated at around 300,000 euros.

Construction work is scheduled to begin in December 2015/January 2016 and is expected to last until June/July 2016.

The planning is focussed on the greatest possible variety of smaller play options and dispenses with large play facilities. Climbing facilities, seesaws, a playhouse, swings, sand and mud facilities and a slide will be created within the facility.

The existing football pitch will be surfaced with a water-bound path surface, new football pitch goals and a wooden balancing beam at the edge for seating.

New plantings of attractive deciduous trees and solitary shrubs are planned throughout the site.
