City council decides to renovate the Kaßberg driveway
At its meeting today, the city council decided that the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff Bridge, colloquially known as the Kaßberg slip road, will be renovated from this year after all. The city council had originally planned to postpone the construction project due to the significant price increases in the tender results and to include it in another funding programme in the 2019/2020 biennial budget.
However, the opinion-forming in the parliamentary groups in the run-up to today's meeting has shown that the vast majority of city councillors want the refurbishment to take place this year, despite the cost increase of 2.5 million euros. The administration has complied with this by amending the draft resolution.
As a result, the bridge will be renovated from the end of March 2018 until probably October 2019. The costs for the construction project amount to 5.3 million euros. The original estimate was 2.8 million euros.
