City council decides to rename CWE
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to rename Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH CWE to "Chemnitzer Tourismus und Marketing GmbH". This reflects the change in responsibilities since the business development division was transferred to the city administration as a division of the Lord Mayor in 2022 and CWE is now focussing on the areas of tourism promotion and city marketing.
This primarily includes the organisation of events, conferences, congresses and functions as well as the provision of tourism services to promote tourism in the city of Chemnitz. This includes operating a tourist information centre, advising and supporting tourism companies and retail and service companies based in the city. In particular, the development of a tourism concept for the city of Chemnitz, the development and intensification of tourism marketing with an impact in the region as well as at home and abroad are among the core competences of CWE in the medium term.
The company currently has 13 employees. Accordingly, the Supervisory Board will be reduced from nine to five members.
