City council decides to relocate Annen primary school
At its meeting today, the city council decided to temporarily relocate Annen Primary School to the "Südlicher Sonnenberg" primary school site at Jakobstraße 20 for the coming 2023/24 school year. Annengrundschule will be housed there for a maximum of two school years. Suitable school transport and/or school transport assistance will be provided for pupils at Annengrundschule as required and in consultation with parents.
Until then, the partial school network plans for the general education schools and second-chance schools will be updated and a permanent decision made in favour of Annengrundschule.
The cooperation school Chemnitz is to move into the current location of Annengrundschule, the school building at Brauhausstraße 16, at the start of the 2024/2025 school year. This is currently housed in the relocation property at Wittgensdorfer Straße 121. The construction project "New construction of the cooperation school at the Heinrich-Schütz-Straße site" has been cancelled as this measure can no longer be financed.
As planned and decided by the city council in 2020, Annenoberschule will move from the Brauhausstraße 16 site to the new school site at Vettersstraße 34 at the start of the 2023/24 school year and use the new building as a three-form entry secondary school under the name Marianne-Brandt-Oberschule.
The existing building at Brauhausstraße 16 will have to be modernised for its continued use as a school. A new extension is also planned, which the city council will decide on in the second half of 2023.
The decision was made subject to the approval of the Saxon Ministry of Culture.
