City Council decides to increase funding for the Youth Welfare Office
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to increase the budget for the Youth Welfare Office.
This means that the Youth Welfare Office now has a total of around 11 million euros more at its disposal, which will be covered by needs-based allocations and reimbursements for advance maintenance payments from the Free State of Saxony. These funds are required, among other things, for educational assistance, socio-educational family support, home education, various integration assistance and provisional measures for the protection of children and young people, benefits in accordance with the Maintenance Advance Act and the funding of independent day-care centres.
The reasons for the existing additional demand lie in the general increase in case numbers, higher personnel costs due to pay rises, constantly rising material costs and an increased need for help from young people with a history of migration. In addition, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the generally tense economic situation of families are still playing a major role.
