City council decides to amend the taxi fare ordinance
Prices adjusted - agreed fixed prices are now also possible
At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided to amend the taxi fare ordinance. The Chemnitz taxi co-operative eG had submitted a corresponding application to change the taxi fares.
With this amendment to the ordinance on transport charges, the prices for kilometres driven and waiting times will be increased. The price per kilometre will increase by 20 cents to rates between 2.40 euros and 3.10 euros depending on the time of day. The prices for waiting times will be increased by 5 euros; depending on the time of day, the charge will now be between 30 euros and 35 euros per hour, calculated to the minute.
As an innovation, the regulation implements a federal regulation according to which passengers can agree a fixed price with taxi companies for journeys ordered in advance, irrespective of the distance travelled. The agreed fare may deviate by up to 20 per cent upwards and 5 per cent downwards from the reference price resulting from the basic price and the price per kilometre (so-called fare corridor). The option of travelling by taxi without agreeing a price with the company and having the fare determined by the taximeter remains in place.
The regulation is due to come into force on 1 October this year and replace the last amendment from November 2022.
