City Council decides to amend the compensation statutes
At its meeting today, the Chemnitz City Council resolved to amend the compensation statutes. It covers the compensation of city councillors and other citizens working in an honorary capacity on the committees and comes into force at the beginning of 2016.
Councillors receive a monthly allowance of 300 euros as compensation for their expenses. They also receive an attendance fee for attending meetings in which they are a member or deputy member. The attendance fee depends on the duration of the respective meeting and is between 17.50 and 70 euros.
The new rates are based on the allowances paid in the other two independent cities. This is the first increase in rates since the introduction of the euro in 2002.
