City council decides on road construction measures

At its meeting today, the city council decided to carry out the following road construction measures:

Promenade roads between Müllerstrasse and Seumestrasse

In the above-mentioned section, the Promenadenstraße will be renewed over a length of approx. 280 metres. The coordinated construction project with the city's waste disposal company and inetz GmbH includes complex pipework on gas and water pipes as well as on the combined sewer. The pipework does not affect the entire section of the road. Between Seumestraße and the bridge over the Pleißenbach, the pavement on the eastern side will also be renewed in addition to the fundamental renewal of the road. Ten bicycle racks will also be installed on this section of pavement. No pipework will be carried out on the section between the bridge and Müllerstraße. The road surface and the eastern pavement will be renewed here. In addition, the pavement on the western side (the side of the castle pond) will be resurfaced with a new layer of asphalt. The construction work will mainly be carried out with one-way road closures in the direction of Hartmannstraße, with a diversion via Georgstraße and Nordstraße in the opposite direction. The road will only be fully closed for the installation of the surface course. The construction work is scheduled to begin at the end of September 2018 and be completed by the end of May 2019. The costs amount to around 600,000 euros.

Expansion of Thüringer Weg and Am Wartburghof

The measure concerns the expansion of Thüringer Weg and Am Wartburghof between Reichenhainer Straße and Wartburgstraße. It is a coordinated measure with inetz GmbH and the ESC over a length of 338 metres.

Following the laying of the cables by both utilities, the Thüringer Weg carriageway and the pavements on both sides will be fundamentally upgraded. The two pavements will be fundamentally upgraded with concrete paving. The construction period is ten months. Work is scheduled to begin in October 2018 and end in August 2019. In order to minimise disruption, the construction work will be carried out road by road, starting with Am Wartburghof. Each section of the road will be fully closed during construction. A diversion will be set up via Reichenhainer Straße and Wartburgstraße. The costs amount to 455,000 euros.
