At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided to dissolve Chemnitzer Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (CTM) in an organised manner.
The current business activities are to be transferred to existing structures in order to avoid multiple responsibilities and due to the tight budget situation. How exactly the business areas will be transferred to other partners will be scrutinised in the liquidation process.
Due to the importance of the areas of tourism and city marketing for Chemnitz, regular reporting is planned both in the Administration and Finance Committee (on the liquidation process) and in the Committee for Economic and Strategic Development (on the topics of tourism and city marketing), in addition to the involvement of the CTM Supervisory Board in accordance with the articles of association.
Background:
Founded in 1993 as Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE), the company was initially entrusted with the tasks of business development. In 2011, the tasks of tourism promotion and city marketing were added.
In 2022, the business development division was transferred from the former CWE to the Mayor of Chemnitz.
