City council decides on further broadband expansion

Twelve more schools connected to the fibre optic network by autumn 2023

At its meeting today, the city council decided to connect twelve more schools to the fibre optic broadband network and thus advance broadband expansion in Chemnitz.

The costs for these measures amount to around 1.9 million euros, 90 percent of the funds come from federal and state funding programmes. The construction work should be completed by the autumn of this year.

The following schools will be connected to the broadband network following this decision:

  • Richard Hartmann School Vocational School Centre for Technology III
  • Parzival School,
  • Baumgartenschule Grüna primary school,
  • Medical vocational school of Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH,
  • Valentina Tereschkowa Primary School,
  • Sächsische Sozialakademie - vocational school for social services
  • Mittelbach primary school
  • Josephinenschule - secondary school
  • "Georg Götz" support centre - school with a focus on hearing impairment
  • Siegmar primary school
  • Altchemnitz school - special needs centre with a focus on learning
  • "Gerd Condé" vocational school, independent vocational school and vocational support school
