City council decides on four Sunday opening hours in the year 2013

Sales outlets in Chemnitz may be open on 6 October, 3 November, 8 December and 22 December 2013 between 12 noon and 6 pm

In Chemnitz, shops will be allowed to open on four Sundays between 12 noon and 6 pm next year. This was decided by the city council at its meeting yesterday.

An agreement on these four dates was reached by tradespeople and traders' associations together with the Saxony Trade Association on the basis of Section 8 (1) of the law on shop opening hours in the Free State of Saxony. In October, representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Saxony Trade Association, centre managers, representatives of the city council factions, the trade union and the church also agreed on these dates.

This decision applies to the following four Sundays:

Sunday, 6 October 2013
on the occasion of the "Traditional Autumn Festival of Fashion" event

Sunday, 3 November 2013
on the occasion of the event "Chemnitz Culture Days"

Sunday, 8 December 2013 and Sunday, 22 December 2013
each on the occasion of the Christmas markets in Chemnitz.
