City council decides on civil engineering measures
At its meeting today, the city council decided to build a new access road to the initial reception centre on Adalbert-Stifter-Weg.
The Free State's initial reception centre (EAE) on Adalbert-Stifter-Weg will be given a second access road; the EAE is to be reached from the west side from Glösaer Straße as a public traffic area. A 900 metre long new section of road will be built for this purpose, 140 metres of which will be a conversion of the existing Adalbert-Stifter-Weg. The integration into Glösaer Straße requires 190 metres of reconstruction of the existing section. The pavement will also be extended and landscaped.
As the organisation responsible for the EAE on Adalbert-Stifter-Weg, the Sächsische Immobilien- und Baumanagment (SIB) is carrying out these conversion measures to ensure that the asylum accommodation and supply capacities are adequate. The Free State of Saxony and the City of Chemnitz have concluded a financing agreement for the construction measures. According to this agreement, the Free State will bear the entire costs, which amount to 2.2 million euros. The City of Chemnitz is responsible for the planning, tendering, awarding and realisation of the construction work. The remodelling is scheduled to begin in October 2017 and should be completed by the end of 2018.
