City Council decides on changes to the departments
Mayors' areas of responsibility reorganised - New mayor becomes city treasurer
At its meeting yesterday, the city council approved the changes to the mayors' areas of responsibility. From 1 August, the newly formed Kulturbetrieb (Office 41) will be integrated into Department 5, the Anti-Corruption Officer will be attached to Department 3 and the Office for Facility Management and Building Construction will move to Department 6. The administration expects synergies here from a construction perspective, for example with the Parks Department and the Civil Engineering Department.
In connection with the election of the three mayors this year, the allocation of responsibilities in all departments was reviewed once again. Decisions already made by the City Council that affected the allocation of responsibilities, such as the allocation of the city archive to the cultural organisation, as well as past experience in the organisation of municipal structures were taken into account.
Furthermore, the City Council decided to appoint Sven Schulze, the newly elected mayor of Department 1 - Human Resources, Finance and Organisation - on 10 June 2015 as a specialist employee for finance. Mr Schulze will therefore hold the title of City Treasurer from 1 August 2015.
In addition to drawing up the budget, the financial plan, the annual financial statements and the consolidated financial statements, the finance officer is also responsible for monitoring the budget and managing the assets and liabilities of the City of Chemnitz in accordance with the Saxon municipal code.
