City council decides on building construction measures

At its meeting yesterday, the town council approved the construction of the following building construction measures, subject to the approval of funding.

Kleinolbersdorf primary school
The measure concerns the construction of a second escape route. There is currently only one escape route through the stairwell in the school building. It is therefore necessary to add a rescue staircase. The costs amount to around 360,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in May and end in December 2016.

"Sachsenhalle" sports hall
The floor in the Sachsenhalle was renewed twenty years ago. During this time, cracks have developed in the floor due to intensive use. The subfloor is also partially broken. Therefore, a renewal is necessary. The costs amount to around 208,000 euros. Approximately 81,000 euros of this is subsidised. Work is due to start at the end of June. Completion is scheduled for the end of July.

Sports forum, cycling track
In recent years, large cracks have increasingly appeared on almost all segments of the track surface due to various weather conditions. These have to be repaired again and again in order to maintain the use of the track for cycling. As a result of the repairs, there are different road surfaces that no longer form a homogeneous surface, which is necessary for cycling. The track surface is therefore to be renovated. The costs amount to around 454,000 euros. Over 272,000 euros in funding is planned. The demolition work is to begin after the cyclists' Olympic preparations. The renovation of the carriageway will then be carried out in April 2017. Completion is planned for October 2017.

Sports hall at Schloßteich
The mechanical spectator stand in the sports hall at Schloßteich is being replaced. Due to the many years of use of the grandstand, complications have arisen in the past, meaning that repair work has been necessary time and again. The spectator grandstand needs to be renewed to provide security for sporting events, such as Bundesliga matches of the ChemCats women's basketball team. The costs amount to around 234,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to start at the beginning of July and end at the beginning of November.
