City Council confirms final measures for updating the consolidation concept

On Wednesday, the Chemnitz City Council approved the last two measures for updating the consolidation package. At the special meeting of the city council on 2 July, 43 measures had already been initiated. However, the consolidation amount for 2015 could not yet be fully realised.

In order to close the gap, two further measures were developed within the administration: Firstly, the material costs in the offices and facilities will be reduced by 4 per cent, which means a total of around 329,000 euros.

In addition, six positions in the public order office will be cut. These are the posts in the former Office 25, which deals with cases concerning the settlement of outstanding property issues. It can be assumed that the outstanding cases will be processed by the end of 2013. This will save around 358,000 euros.

The savings are a prerequisite for the comprehensive approval of the 2012 budget. In the budget approval, the state directorate had stipulated the condition precedent of balancing the deficit that still exists in 2015.
