City council approves the sale of the leasehold property "Haus des Gastes" to the Chemnitz Athletes' Club
At its meeting yesterday, Chemnitz City Council unanimously approved the draft resolution 022/2014 submitted by the administration on the sale of the leasehold property at Zwickauer Straße 485 "Haus des Gastes" to the Chemnitzer Athleten Club e. V. (CAC e.V.). The club has been using the site, where a weightlifting centre was established back in 1972, for almost two decades as a weightlifting centre that is now known nationwide and has the status of a federal and state base in the Chemnitz/Dresden Olympic training centre. The work of the CAC is orientated towards the common good: The weightlifting centre is primarily used for sporting purposes, promoting recreational and mass sport and supporting competitive sport.
The owner of the 4,316 m² parcel of land in the Reichenbrand district is the City of Chemnitz, whose real estate office conducted the purchase negotiations with the leaseholder and buyer and finalised the negotiations subject to the approval of the city council. The purchase price is 162,000 euros; the usage commitment is twelve years, secured by a repurchase right.
Background:
On the basis of a resolution passed by the city council in May 1994 (B-1156/1994), a heritable building right was granted in favour of the Chemnitzer Athleten Club for a period of 99 years in the property at Zwickauer Straße 485. With the decision now confirmed by the city council to sell the leasehold property at Zwickauer Strasse 485 "Haus des Gastes" to the Chemnitzer Athletenclub e. V. as the leaseholder, the leasehold will be terminated before the expiry of the term.
The connected property complex consists of the main building, residential building, large hall with stage, small hall, boiler room and kitchen and is part of an area monument in Reichenbrand. The oldest buildings (main building and residential building) were built at the end of the 19th century; the other buildings were added later. In earlier years, the building complex served as a pub and dance hall. The weightlifting centre has been located in these buildings since 1972.
