Linkbetweenlocalpublic transport and regional rail transport
The city of Chemnitz wants to further improve the links between urban, regional and long-distance transport in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station. Now that stage 1 of the Chemnitz model has enabled local rail passenger transport (SPNV) to run directly through the main railway station, regional bus and long-distance bus services are also to be brought closer to the station. The first stage of the new connection point is to replace the bus station at Schillerplatz to the south of the station at the Bahnhofstraße car park. The total costs amount to 5,300,000 euros. The new platform tunnel to Dresdner Straße will not only provide access from Sonnenberg to the main railway station. New stops and an adapted route for the city bus service on the east side of the station are also planned.
Construction of a new bank retaining wall on the Würschnitz
The bank retaining wall in the Klaffenbacher Straße/Würschnitztalstraße area needs to be renewed. This area is one of the main connecting roads to the south-west of Chemnitz. The total costs amount to 510,000 euros.
Wolgograder Allee between the Arno-Schreiter-Straße and Chemnitzer Straße roundabouts
A sustainable traffic solution is to be found between the newly realised roundabouts on Arno-Schreiter-Straße and Chemnitzer Straße. This includes adapting and repairing Wolgograder Allee to the new traffic conditions. The total costs amount to 650,000 euros.
Wüstenbrand-Lugau cycle path
A leisure cycle route between Wüstenbrand and Lugau represents an attractive link between the long-distance cycle route "Sächsische Städteroute", the district of Mittelbach and the northern Erzgebirge district (Oelsnitz Mining Museum). From there, the Klaffenbach moated castle could also be reached via the signposted Würschnitz Valley cycle path. The total costs amount to 560,000 euros.
Securing the Am Naturtheater road
The road at the nature theatre is endangered by a rockfall. This is the only access road to the properties. The emergency exit of the rock dome will also be secured. The total costs amount to 500,000 euros.
Furth II bridge
The bridge crosses the Chemnitz - Riesa railway line.
Structural damage needs to be repaired in order to secure the track area of the Deutsche Bahn line. The total costs amount to 500,000 euros.
