City council approves subsidy for communal lunches at after-school care centres during school holidays for beneficiaries of the education and participation package
At its meeting yesterday, the City Council adopted the draft resolution B-188/2014 "Guideline of the City of Chemnitz on the subsidy for communal lunchtime meals at after-school care centres during the school holidays for beneficiaries of the education and participation package (holiday lunch guideline)" submitted by the administration. This paves the way for pupils with a statutory entitlement to benefits from the education and participation package to also receive benefits for communal lunchtime meals during the school holidays if they attend an after-school care facility.
As the statutory benefits from the education and participation package are limited to lunch on school days, the City of Chemnitz now provides the benefits for lunch during the school holidays as a voluntary benefit. As with the statutory benefit, the personal contribution to be paid by the entitled person is EUR 1.00 per lunch portion.
An application is required to claim the benefit.
The application can be submitted retrospectively from 1 January 2014 for the holidays in the previous school year, including the summer holidays. The application must be received by the Social Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz by 30 November 2014.
For the holidays of the current and coming school years, the costs of lunch during the school holidays are always reimbursed retrospectively after the end of the school year.
The application for the previous school year must be submitted to the Social Welfare Office by 31 October of each year. The Social Welfare Office is responsible for approving the new voluntary benefit for all entitled persons, i.e. also if entitled persons receive the statutory education and participation package benefits from the Chemnitz Job Centre.
The application form and an information sheet are available in the Social Services Customer Portal of the Social Welfare Office, Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre, Bahnhofstraße 53, or at the Citizens' Service Points. The form and information sheet are available online at www.chemnitz.de/bildungspaketabrufbar.
