City council approves sale of two plots for new residential complex

At its meeting yesterday, the city council decided by a majority vote (B-041/2013) to sell two municipal properties. These are located next to each other and to the west of the city centre at Kaßbergstraße 20, in the neighbourhood of the "Arthur" house and the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium.

As a result of a marketing announcement by the property office, CSG eG came out on top with the highest purchase price bid of 440,000 euros.

A modern residential complex close to the city centre is to be built on the land still to be purchased. The design of the residential complex will be decided together with the Chemnitz city planning office following an architectural competition. The aim is to jointly find a solution on the 3,640 square metre site that will enhance the entrance to the Kaßberg area monument in terms of architecture and design.

With over 4,700 flats, mainly on the Kaßberg and in the Flemming area, Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft eG is one of the largest local housing co-operatives.
