City council approves new admission prices for museums
At its meeting yesterday, Chemnitz City Council approved a new fee schedule for the museums Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz, Museum Gunzenhauser, Schloßbergmuseum, Burg Rabenstein, Henry van de Velde Museum in the Villa Esche and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Haus. This was last adjusted in 2019.
For example, the price for a day ticket (full-payer) will rise from 8 euros to 10 euros, while the price for reduced admission will increase from 5 euros to 6.50 euros. Groups of ten or more people will now pay 6.50 euros per person (previously 5 euros), and families with two adults and at least one child up to the age of 17 will pay 16 euros admission (previously 12 euros). On average, admission fees will increase by 25 per cent.
The revision of the fee schedule had become necessary due to rising personnel and material costs and the need to consolidate the budget. In addition, the old fee schedule had to be supplemented by the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Haus, which will open next year. The validity of the combined ticket has been extended to six days. This means that the Henry van de Velde Museum and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House can also be visited during the combined ticket period. The new fee structure now also offers a combined ticket for the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz and the Museum Gunzenhauser, which costs 18 euros (full price) or 12 euros (reduced price). This is the Chemnitz Art Collections' response to the wishes of visitors.
