City council approves lowering the minimum distance for wind turbines in Wittgensdorf

At its meeting today, the town council approved the construction of a new wind turbine to replace an existing turbine (repowering) in the Wittgensdorf district at a distance of less than 1000 metres from residential buildings. The majority of the Wittgensdorf local council had already previously approved the proposal.

The existing wind turbine with an output of 500 kW has been at this location since 1998. The distance to the nearest residential development to be considered is currently approx. 410 metres. The new wind turbine with a total height of 246.6 metres and an output of 5.56 MW is to be erected around 350 metres to the north-east of the existing one. The distance between the planned wind turbine and the nearest permitted residential development will then be around 590 metres.
