City council approves daycare centre requirements plan until 2022 - two new buildings go into operation
At its meeting today, the city council approved the 2022 daycare centre requirements plan for Chemnitz. This must be revised annually in accordance with the Saxon Daycare Centre Act.
The last two facilities from the 2017 daycare centre construction programme are included in the requirements plan. The daycare centre in Louis-Braille-Straße with 100 places, which is operated by SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH, is due to open in July. The municipal centre in Schloßstraße is expected to open in January next year with 150 places.
With this planning, the town is very well positioned for the coming years, says Mayor Ralph Burghart. A good 98 per cent of all nursery and after-school children and around 88 per cent of all crèche children in Chemnitz will have the opportunity to get a place next year. Over the past four years, the programme has created around 1,300 new places.
The aim of the daycare centre demand planning is to guarantee the legal entitlement to education, upbringing and care for children up to nursery age.
