City council approves an additional 135,000 euros for youth welfare services

At its meeting yesterday, Chemnitz City Council decided to allocate additional funds in favour of the youth welfare budget. By approving the draft resolution B-096/2013 submitted by the administration, the council authorised 134,700 euros.

The additional costs are the result of rising case numbers in the fourth quarter of 2012 and the offsetting of expenses from territorially responsible external youth welfare offices. The additional requirement approved by the city council yesterday is primarily covered by the settlements from the health insurance companies. These were not as high as planned. The funds for communal lunches in accordance with Section 28 SGB II were also not fully utilised as at 31 December 2012 because the beneficiaries failed to apply for these benefits.
