City council approves additional funds for social levy
At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided to allocate around 1.7 million euros in additional funds for the social levy.
At the beginning of August, the Saxony Municipal Social Association (KSV) levied a social levy of 52.8 million euros, an increase of 10.6 per cent compared to the previous year. The budgeted amount, however, was 49.3 million euros.
The additional requirement for the social levy is the result of rising social expenditure and is to be covered by unused expenditure from assistance for asylum seekers. It turned out that the proportion of people entitled to benefits under Section 2 of the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act was lower than initially planned.
