City council agrees to reduce the minimum distance for wind turbines on Galgenberg
At its meeting today, the town council agreed that the minimum distance of 1,000 metres from residential areas should be maintained for the construction of two new wind turbines in the wind farm of energy supplier eins on Galgenberg. The Röhrsdorf local council had already unanimously approved the proposal.
The four wind turbines of eins am Galgenberg currently supply around 15 GWh per year with a total output of 8 MW. The wind farm was to be extended to the east of motorway 72 by two additional wind turbines with 7 MW each and a distance of more than 1,000 metres from residential areas.
However, as the flight corridor for the rescue helicopters to/from Chemnitz Hospital is affected by one of the wind turbines, it has to be moved to the north. This new location falls short of the distance to the permitted residential development in the outer area towards the Röhrsdorf district by around 150 metres.
