City council adopts integrated urban development concept
At its meeting today, the City Council adopted the integrated urban development concept "INSEK Chemnitz 2035" as an urban development concept. This formulates the overarching objectives for the development of the city of Chemnitz, which must be taken into account with immediate effect when drawing up and updating future plans, concepts and strategies - subject to the budget funds available. Implementation is to be reviewed on a regular basis.
The INSEK Chemnitz 2035 is the central guiding document for managing the city's overall development and the basis for the strategic, proactive actions of the City of Chemnitz over the next 10 to 15 years. The INSEK 2035 is used for interdisciplinary administrative action and as a communication and mediation tool in politics and urban society. In addition, such a city-wide concept is required by the funding body in order to be able to assess the extent to which the city's decisions are made across departments and divisions.
The INSEK 2035 covers all areas of a city's development: from the economic structure, green and open spaces, aspects of mobility, issues of social inclusion and participation in processes, health and quality of life, climate protection and building culture to integration, social cohesion and digitalisation.
The concept has been developed in an intensive process over the past year and a half - partly with the help of external project support, but above all with the political groups represented on the city council and broad public participation in so-called future workshops and numerous workshops. To stabilise and document the INSEK project, the City Planning Office produced a total of six brochures on the individual milestones, which were presented to the City Council and made available to the public on the City of Chemnitz website at the same time.
