City Council adopts guidelines on the granting of subsidies for children's and youth recreational activities during the holiday period
At its meeting yesterday, the City Council adopted the guidelines of the Office for Youth and Family of the City of Chemnitz on the granting of subsidies for children and youth recreational activities during the school holidays (B-173/2014). According to this guideline, parents with low incomes will be able to apply for a maximum grant of 17 euros per day for their children aged between seven and 18 for recreational activities during the school holidays from 2015.
Applications should be submitted at least four weeks before the start of the activity and should be sent to the City of Chemnitz Office for Youth and Family, Youth Work Department, Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre, Bahnhofstraße 53, 09111 Chemnitz.
Regarding the guidelines: The new guidelines increase the maximum amount of funding per day and participant from the previous maximum of 15 euros per day and participant to a maximum of 17 euros per day and participant, thus taking into account the general increase in costs. The change in the amount of the grant has no budgetary implications and will be provided by the City of Chemnitz Office for Youth and Family Affairs within the existing budget.
The reason for the adjustment of the previous guideline, which was adopted by the City Council in November 2005, is that parts of it have since become part of the Youth, Social Affairs, Health funding guideline of 1 August 2012 and duplication of regulations should be avoided; last but not least, the revision has also been made more comprehensible.
